Fujian Shipbuilding Secures 4+2 1,800 TEU Container Vessel Order from Norse Shipholding

On April 14, Mawei Shipbuilding and Southeast Shipyard, subsidiaries of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding), signed an order with Norse Shipholding Pte. Ltd. for 4+2 1,800 TEU container ships.

This series of vessels has an overall length of 172 meters and a beam of 28.4 meters. Classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), they are designed for worldwide operation and feature a capacity of 1,800 TEUs. These container ships are suitable for transporting dry cargo containers, reefer containers, and containers carrying specific dangerous goods. Equipped with two 45-ton crane systems, this vessel offers advantages over conventional container ships, including ease of loading and unloading, lower terminal costs, higher speed, lower fuel consumption, greater cargo capacity, and greater versatility.

It is worth noting that the 4+2 1,800 TEU container ships covered by this contract will be jointly built by Mawei Shipbuilding and Southeast Shipyard, both subsidiaries of Fujian Shipbuilding.

Fujian Shipbuilding has been deeply involved in the construction of feeder container ships for many years, accumulating extensive experience. To date, the company has delivered over 100 container ships of various sizes, including 700 TEU, 1,100 TEU, 2,900 TEU, and 3,700 TEU vessels, and has earned widespread acclaim in the industry for its product quality and construction capabilities.

Leveraging this strong foundation, Mawei Shipbuilding and Southeast Shipyard will further strengthen their close coordination and collaboration with the shipowner, Norse Shipholding Pte. Ltd., to fully advance the project’s construction process.
