CCS Certifies DSIC’s Intelligent Liquid Cargo Management System for VLCCs

Recently, the intelligent liquid cargo management system developed by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) has successfully obtained the Product Certificate and Type Approval Certificate from the China Classification Society (CCS). This milestone signifies that China’s first intelligent liquid cargo system for VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) with fully independent intellectual property rights has formally passed authoritative certification. It marks a new phase in the research, development, and industrial application of core equipment for intelligent ships in China.

This system, developed independently by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industrial Development (DSID) under the leadership of DSIC, represents a key achievement in the intelligent and green development of ships. The system integrates over ten core systems related to oil tanker loading, unloading, and transportation, covering critical modules such as cargo oil ballast pumps and remote valve control. It features multi-system coordinated control, intelligent cargo handling, and expert knowledge base-assisted decision-making. The system has already passed the E27 cybersecurity resilience certification ahead of schedule and has been successfully installed on a methanol dual-fuel VLCC built by DSIC for China Merchants Energy Shipping’s Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Limited (AMCL).

During trial operations, the system demonstrated outstanding performance in control precision, operational efficiency, and comprehensive safety protection capabilities, fully meeting the urgent demand for intelligent operations in modern shipping.

Throughout the certification process, China Classification Society participated in rigorous audits and inspections, while AMCL provided substantial support in collaborative innovation. The successful completion of this certification represents a direct outcome of the tripartite collaboration and close cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the system’s future widespread application.

Looking forward, DSID will continue to pursue a development path characterized by intelligence, sustainability and integration. DSID will focus on tackling core original technologies, continuously optimize and iterate system functionality and performance, and remain committed to providing superior solutions for the intelligent transformation and upgrading of the global shipping industry.
