On October 27, Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (ROC), has signed a contract with a prominent European shipowner for the construction of six 13,000 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers (including options).

The announcement disclosed that the contract value is approximately 1.5 billion to 1.65 billion yuan (approximately $225 million to $248 million). The new vessels will begin to be delivered in batches 28 months after the contract takes effect.
Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries did not disclose specific information about the shipowner, stating only that the shipowner is a well-known European company engaged in the transport of chemicals. Neither Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries nor ROC has any affiliation with this shipowner, nor has either conducted any transactions with this shipowner in the past three years.
Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries stated that the signing of the aforementioned contract will further enhance the company’s competitiveness in the market for marine and offshore engineering equipment, facilitate its future expansion into related markets, and bolster its overall core competitiveness and long-term operational sustainability.
Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries previously secured orders from Germany’s Essberger for a series of 13,000 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers. Four of these vessels have now been confirmed, with deliveries expected to commence in April 2027.
Recently, Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries has secured a series of overseas orders, with most of its partners being European shipowners. The products include several high-value-added vessel types, such as live fish transport vessels (6), platform supply vessels (2), offshore service vessels (10), and wind farm operation and maintenance vessels (8).
