Liaoning Xinhai Shipbuilding Secures 2 More 19,000 DWT General Cargo Vessel Orders from Dalian Xinfeng Shipping

On October 15, Liaoning Xinhai Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Ltd. (Xinhai Shipbuilding) once again successfully signed a contract with Dalian Xinfeng Shipping for the construction of two 19,000 DWT general cargo vessels.

This marks another collaboration between the two parties following their 14,000 DWT dry bulk carrier project. In early September, Xinhai Shipbuilding and Xinfeng Shipping announced the signing of a project to build 1+3 14,000 DWT dry cargo vessels.

The vessel was designed by Shanghai Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and classified by China Classification Society (CCS). It is a ship type custom-designed by SDARI for Tradewind Shipping.

This vessel is designed as an ocean-going general cargo vessel with a single propeller driven by a low-speed diesel engine, featuring a single deck, double sides, and box-type cargo holds. Its hatch covers can carry containers, enabling it to sail in unlimited navigation areas and operate on the Arctic route during summer and autumn.

Equipped with high-efficiency propellers and fitted with energy-saving devices such as fan-shaped ducts and hub cap fins, the vessel meets Tier III emission standards. Combining high efficiency, energy conservation, and environmental sustainability, this vessel type is poised to set the benchmark in the tonnage market upon its launch.

Earlier in late August, Xinhai Shipbuilding also received orders for 1+6 4,300 DWT dry bulk carriers. Within just over two months, the shipbuilder has announced orders for 13 new vessels across three different types.

Public information indicates that Liaoning Xinhai Shipbuilding & Repairing was established on February 21, 2025, with registered capital of RMB 50 million. Its legal representative is Li Hongwei. Located in Longgang District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province (adjacent to the shipbuilding industry cluster), its core businesses include ship design, construction, repair, and conversion; marine equipment manufacturing; offshore engineering support; import and export of goods; and technical services.
