Odfjell Sells Two 2011-Built Chemical Tankers in Deal Valued at Over $62 Million

Norwegian chemical tanker owner and operator Odfjell recently announced the sale of two vessels built in 2011, with the total transaction value exceeding $62 million.

As of now, Odfjell has not publicly confirmed the deal, and specific financial details—as well as the identity of the buyer—remain undisclosed.

According to market reports, the vessels involved in the transaction—the “Bow Elm” (46,098 DWT) and the “Bow Lind” (46,047 DWT)—have passed their survey inspections. Both vessels were built by South Korea’s SLS Shipbuilding.

Since entering service in 2011, these vessels have been employed within Odfjell’s chemical and product tanker operations. As of June 30, they were still listed as owned vessels in Odfjell’s fleet register.

This transaction comes as Odfjell actively pursues an extensive fleet renewal program. In April of this year, Odfjell announced the acquisition of four 40,000 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers currently under construction, for a total consideration of approximately $290 million. These new vessels are being built by Kitanihon Shipbuilding and are scheduled for delivery between the first quarter of 2027 and the second quarter of 2029; they will be acquired from a Japanese shipowner upon completion.
