On September 10, Chinese shipbuilder Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding officially signed a contract with Wealth Holdings Shipping Pte Ltd for the construction of 25,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels. The order comprises two firm 25,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels plus two optional batches of two vessels each (2+2+2).
The 25,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel covered by this contract measures 159.9 meters in length and is equipped with three 150-ton cranes. Designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), the vessel strictly adheres to mainstream international construction standards and maritime regulations.
It offers exceptional cargo versatility and operational cost-efficiency, capable of flexibly transporting a wide range of high-value cargoes—including containers, bulk goods, and heavy-lift items—thereby truly achieving “multi-functional capability and global reach.”
Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding is a wholly state-owned enterprise based in Wuxue City, Hubei Province. In just one year, the company constructed an intelligent new-energy shipyard covering 1.3 million square meters, boasting an annual steel processing capacity of 200,000 tons. The facility is equipped with three intelligent steel processing lines, 24 sets of sub-assembly welding robots, 10 standardized shipbuilding berths, and a 500-ton gantry crane—all showcasing the deep integration of heavy-duty industrial equipment and digital technology.
Since May of this year, the total value of orders held by Guangji Xinneng Shipbuilding from domestic and international shipowners has surpassed RMB 3 billion (approximately USD 4.47 million at current exchange rates), propelling the company with tremendous momentum into the “blue ocean” of the global shipbuilding market.
