Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has announced the sale of four platform supply vessels (PSVs) and the acquisition of two construction support vessels (CSVs) built by Chinese shipyards, a move aimed at further optimizing and upgrading its fleet. The sale will generate net cash proceeds of approximately US$50 million.
Specifically, the four platform supply vessels (PSVs) earmarked for sale—named “Skandi Mongstad”, “Skandi Flora”, “Skandi Feistein”, and “Skandi Kvitsøy”—were built between 2008 and 2012; they are expected to be delivered to the new owners in the third quarter of 2026 and will continue to fulfill existing contracts. DOF will retain management of the vessels and hold a minority equity stake in the acquiring entity.
Including the latest transaction, DOF has sold nine vessels over the past year that were underperforming or unsuitable for the DOF fleet.
In addition to the vessel sale agreement, DOF has reached a cooperation arrangement with an affiliate of Geveran Trading Company to acquire two offshore support vessels that the latter had ordered from PaxOcean Engineering Zhoushan Co. Ltd (POEZ). The new vessels are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028, at which time DOF will pay 85% of the purchase price.
This type of offshore support vessel is based on the SALT 310 OCV design; it has an overall length of 123.4 meters, a molded breadth of 25 meters, and a deck area of 1,750 square meters. It accommodates a crew of 123 and is equipped with a 250-ton offshore crane and two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
DOF stated that the vessels intended for acquisition will bolster its CSV fleet and are suitable for projects closely aligned with its core business areas, including inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR), field support, and subsea construction services. The company also highlighted that there are already expressions of interest for the deployment of the two CSVs—set for delivery—on projects offering attractive returns; specific scopes of work will be finalized closer to the delivery date, based on overall fleet composition and contractual arrangements.
