Offshore drilling giant Noble Corporation has secured a contract to deploy a drillship in support of offshore drilling operations in Brunei for an undisclosed client.
The contract covers a firm scope of work for six wells, with an estimated value of approximately US$136.2 million, excluding costs for MPD and additional services.
The project is scheduled to commence in early 2028 and is expected to last approximately 296 days, with the drillship remaining in operation through the fourth quarter of 2028. The contract also includes options for three additional wells.
The “Noble Viking” is currently conducting drilling operations in Papua New Guinea, which are set to conclude in August. Immediately thereafter, the vessel will mobilize to Malaysia for another project expected to be completed in October of this year.
Publicly available information indicates that the “Noble Viking” was built by Samsung Heavy Industries in 2014; it has a capacity of 230 personnel, a maximum drilling depth of 40,000 feet, and an operating water depth capability of up to 12,000 feet.
