On June 4, New Yangzi Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, delivered the 9,000 TEU methanol‑fueled container vessel TEMA MÆRSK to its owner, Maersk, and the vessel has since entered commercial service.

The vessel is the third of a series of six 9,000-TEU methanol-fueled container vessels being built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for Maersk. Construction began in early April 2025, and the vessel was christened on May 29, 2026.
This series represents the largest methanol-fueled vessel project in Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s history. The first vessel, the “Tangier Mærsk”, was delivered in February of this year, and the second was delivered in May. Two more new vessels are scheduled for delivery this year, with the final vessel set for delivery in early 2027.
In June 2023, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding signed a contract with Maersk to build six 9,000-TEU methanol-fueled container ships. This marks Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s first order for methanol-powered container ships.
