Hengli Heavy Industries Stages Five-Vessel Simultaneous Launch in Dock No. 1, Reaching Seven in a Week

According to Hengli Heavy Industries, on April 22, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and three 82,000 DWT bulk carriers under construction in Dock No. 1 were launched simultaneously, bringing the total number of vessels launched by Hengli Heavy Industries to seven within a single week.

Earlier this January, four 306,000 DWT VLCCs built in Dry Dock No. 1 at Hengli Heavy Industries were launched on the same day. The simultaneous construction and launch of four VLCCs in a single dry dock set a new global record in the shipbuilding industry, marking that Hengli Heavy Industries’ capabilities in rhythmic and large-scale shipbuilding have reached a world-leading level.

In this production cycle, Hengli Heavy Industry’s Dock No. 1 saw five vessels launched simultaneously, marking a milestone of seven launches in a single week. Hengli Heavy Industrial stated, “The complexity and difficulty of having five massive vessels ready for launch at the same time are extremely high, once again demonstrating Hengli Heavy Industrial’s construction capabilities and expertise.”

It is understood that Dock No. 1 will subsequently begin simultaneous construction of three VLCCs and one VLOC.
