Sealand Equipment Group Bags Follow-on Order for 12,600 DWT Multi-purpose Vessels from European Client

Recently, the Offshore Engineering Company of Sealand Equipment Group successfully secured a follow-on order for a 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessel from a European client. This marks the second collaboration with the European shipowner in less than six months, with two additional vessels added to the original order of four, bringing the total contract value to over 1.2 billion yuan (proximately $176 million).

This type of multi-purpose vessel is 149.9 meters long, 22.8 meters wide, and 12 meters deep, with a design draft of 7.5 meters. It can flexibly load large cargo such as wind power equipment and marine engineering modules. It features green energy saving, superior maneuverability, and strong cargo-carrying capacity, making it a new generation of green, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly multi-purpose vessel.

By the end of 2025, Sealand Equipment Group had also received orders for 3+2 17,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels from Singapore’s Baohua Group. With these orders, the shipbuilder has now secured contracts for at least 11 multi-purpose vessels.

This European shipping company, with over 30 years of experience in maritime freight, is extremely selective when choosing partners. They have always valued not just price, but also the ability to meet delivery commitments and ensure quality control. “In recent years, we have successively completed the construction of supporting production lines, introduced automated equipment such as semi-assembled units, implemented a brand image enhancement initiative, and fully adopted project-based management. While the appearance of our facilities has been completely revitalized, our production efficiency and management standards have also seen significant improvements. This has given us greater confidence when bidding for orders,” said the head of the Business Center.

“The first collaboration had an element of exploratory work, while the second collaboration was based on trust,” the shipowner representative frankly admitted at the negotiating table. “During the initial discussions, the precision shipbuilding technology and ship design concepts you demonstrated left a deep impression on us.” Especially when they learned that intelligent equipment and facilities were gradually being put into use and that the new high-end offshore engineering base was about to go into operation, the shipowner stated on the spot: “Rhythmic and streamlined production is the core capability for achieving ‘mass manufacturing,’ and we trust the ships built in such a factory.”

Facing the ever-changing landscape of the global shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, Sealand Equipment Group has firmly grasped the development trend of high-end, intelligent, and green development, and has forged a path of transformation and upgrading from tugboats to merchant ships and from domestic to international markets. It has successively signed projects such as 12,600 DWT and 17,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels, shifting its product range from traditional ships to high-value-added vessel types. It has successfully opened up overseas markets such as the UK, Germany, and Singapore, expanding its business footprint from domestic to global. This contract renewal is a direct result of this transformation.

By the end of 2025, Sealand Equipment Group will also receive 3+2 17,500 dwt multipurpose vessels from Singapore’s Po Wah Group. This brings the total number of multipurpose vessels the shipbuilder has received to at least 11.
