Jiangnan Shipyard Delivered 15,000 TEU Methanol-Powered Containership for CMA CGM

On April 22, the fourth vessel in the “Kun” series of methanol dual-fuel powered large container ships built by Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for CMA CGM was signed, named and delivered. The entire series is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.

This series of 15,000 TEU methanol-powered dual-fuel container ships is the “Kun” series large container ship (“KUN-15M”) independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard. It is 366 meters long and powered by methanol dual fuel. It is a new type of high-efficiency, green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly ultra-large container ship independently developed by the company.

The vessel continued the series’ rhythmic production process, achieving the “331” target before leaving the dock: “three zeros” (zeroing out of equipment, zeroing out of test containers, and zeroing out of painting), “three-network connectivity” (connection of pipeline network, power grid, and information network), and generator testing. Simultaneously, it completed full-ship simulated test containers and simulated stacking and lashing tests in the dock, shortening the dock cycle by 10 days. The “two-in-one” sea trial cycle took only 8 days, setting a record for the shortest sea trial cycle in the series. It was delivered 5 days ahead of schedule, achieving a new record of delivery within 3 weeks of returning from sea trials.
