Juhe Smart Technology Places Order for 6 4,350-TEU Container Ships with Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry

Recently, Juhe Smart Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. placed an order with Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry) for six 4,350-TEU container ships. Combined with the two vessels of the same type ordered in 2025, the total number of ships to be built under this partnership has increased to eight, with delivery scheduled for 2027 through 2028.

Juhe Smart Technology (Zhejiang) was established in 2021 with a registered capital of 50 million yuan. Its main business includes domestic ship agency, ship leasing, ship sales, and international container ship and general cargo ship transportation. The company has six wholly-owned subsidiaries, namely Ningbo Juhe Logistics Co., Ltd., Ningbo Hesheng Ship Management Co., Ltd., Juhe No. 1 Ship Leasing (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., etc.

According to reports, Juhe Smart Technology (Zhejiang) focuses on the maritime industry, applies smart technologies, and is committed to sustainable marine development. It is a new type of smart shipping enterprise characterized by specialized operational expertise, institutionalized operational management, a legally compliant governance structure, and a professional management team.

Compared to the container ship sector, this shipowner entered the bulk carrier market earlier in the newbuild market. In early 2023, Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (Nantong Xiangyu SOE) announced that it had signed a contract with Juhe Shipping for the construction of one 63,550 DWT bulk carrier.

Container ships have been the primary vessel type ordered from Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry over the past two years. In addition to the eight container ships ordered by Juhe Wisdom Technology, Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry secured an order in July 2023 for 10 (4+4) 1,000 TEU open-top container ships from Ningbo Ocean Shipping. The first four vessels were laid down on December 26, 2023, and the remaining four on May 9, 2024. All eight new vessels have now been delivered and are in service.

In August 2025, OVP Shipping placed an order with Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry for 2+2 4,350 TEU container ships, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027. These vessels will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system (battery-assisted) and feature provisions for future conversion to ammonia fuel; Equipped with an intelligent energy management system, these vessels can reduce carbon emissions per container by 25%, achieving a win-win scenario of energy conservation, emissions reduction, and optimized operating costs; specifically designed for “Belt and Road” routes to enhance cargo efficiency.

According to public records, Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry was established in October 2015 and is registered at the Coastal Industrial Park in Puba Port Town, Sanmen County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It was formerly known as Zhejiang Kaihang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd.

Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry is equipped with one 100,000-ton semi-dock slip and general assembly platform, and two 100,000-ton slips; it has 20,000 square meters of section and pre-assembly yards, outfitting workshops, machining workshops, pipe processing workshops, distribution centers and other supporting facilities. It has complete shipbuilding equipment and mainly builds container ships, oil and chemical tankers and dry cargo ships.

Taizhou Jianxing Heavy Industry is equipped with one 100,000-ton semi-dock slipway and assembly platform, as well as two 100,000-ton slipways. The facility features 20,000 square meters of section and pre-assembly warehouses, along with supporting facilities such as a fitting-out workshop, a machine shop, a pipe fabrication shop, and a distribution center. With a comprehensive range of shipbuilding equipment, the yard primarily constructs container ships, chemical tankers, and dry cargo ships.
