On November 18th, Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding successfully delivered the first 63,500 DWT bulk carrier “JOSCO Mingzhou”, which it built for Jiangsu Ocean Shipping, marking the start of a new chapter in the cooperation between the two large provincial-owned enterprises.

According to reports, Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding and Jiangsu Ocean Shipping signed an order agreement on June 20, 2024, with the former undertaking the construction of four 63,500 DWT bulk carriers.

The vessel delivered represents the first ship in this series. Designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) , it is a single-engine, single-propeller bulk carrier with a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a service speed of 13.4 knots, and a maximum range of 20,000 nautical miles.

As one of the mainstream ship types in today’s international shipping market, this vessel excels in green, environmentally friendly, and energy-saving features, and has successfully been classed by Bureau Veritas (French). Since the project commenced on January 6th of this year, Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding, through scientific planning and precise management, has achieved the remarkable feat of delivering the vessel 22 days ahead of schedule while ensuring construction quality.

Chen Ming, Chairman of Jiangsu Port Group, stated that the delivered 63,500 DWT bulk carriers will primarily serve global ocean bulk cargo transportation, effectively enhancing Jiangsu’s domestic and international bulk shipping capacity. This marks a significant step in the Group’s deep implementation of the “Water Transport Jiangsu” initiative and accelerated development of its strategic maritime fleet.

In the future, Jiangsu Port Group will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with provincial enterprises such as Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding. By adhering to innovation-driven development, the Group will systematically advance the renewal and structural optimization of its bulk cargo fleet, thereby making greater contributions to enhancing the industry’s core competitiveness.

Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding, deeply rooted in shipbuilding and possessing a first-class shipbuilding base, has achieved a new milestone in the successful delivery of the “JOSCO Mingzhou” vessel, marking another milestone in the successful cooperation between Jiangsu Ocean Shipping, Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding, and Detachment of France. All parties will continue to deepen their cooperation and make unremitting efforts to promote the development of the next generation of greener and more energy-efficient ships.
