On October 15, DH Shipbuilding announced that it had signed a contract on the 14th with a Panamanian shipowner for the construction of two 8,800 TEU container vessels. The total order value is 330 billion won (approximately $230 million), with each vessel costing about $115 million.
Since entering the container ship market in 2022, DH Shipbuilding has successfully delivered two 1,000 TEU feeder container vessels and four 8,000 TEU medium-sized container vessels, with planned deliveries scheduled in batches starting from March 2028.
The new vessel will be constructed to environmentally friendly specifications compliant with the latest environmental regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and equipped with a desulfurization system.
Last month, DH Shipbuilding secured orders for 10 vessels, including Suezmax tankers. This latest container vessel order also holds significant importance for the company.
A representative from DH Shipbuilding said: “Based on the stable order book centered on tankers, the company has also gained recognition for its technical strength and reputation in the container vessel market. This contract will be an important turning point in the diversification of ship types.”
