Zhoushan Changhong International Cuts Steel for 8th 10,300 TEU LNG Dual-Fuel Boxship for MSC

On October 13, Zhoushan Changhong International successfully cut steel for the eighth 10,300 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship (Hull No.CHB2044) constructed for MSC at its smart workshop, marking the vessel’s entry into the sectional construction phase.

The project consists of a total of 10 ships, jointly developed and designed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design & Research Institute (CIMC ORIC) and Changhong International. These represent a new generation of advanced, environmentally friendly container ships with a capacity of 10,000 TEUs.

The ship has an overall length of approximately 300 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, and a design speed of 20 knots. The project, which commenced construction, is classified by Bureau Veritas (BV).

Its advanced LNG dual-fuel power system can significantly reduce emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), directly targeting the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s emission reduction targets and providing strong technical support for the green transformation of the global shipping industry.
