On October 10, China-headquartered shipbuilder Wuhu Shipyard reached a key milestone in the construction of the second 38,000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker for internationally renowned shipowner Stolt: the first steel plate was successfully cut, marking the project’s official entry into the construction phase.
It is understood that as the second vessel in this series, the commencement of the 2nd vessel marks not only the launch of a new project, but also an important milestone in the deep cooperative relationship between Wuhu Shipyard and Stolt shipowner and British Lloyd’s Register (LR).
During the preliminary project preparation phase, the resident shipowner team and LR surveyors provided substantial support, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progression of subsequent construction work.
The vessel continues the advanced design of the first vessel and is an ocean-going Class II stainless steel chemical/product oil tanker with high technical content and strict construction standards.
It has an overall length of 184.9 meters and a beam of 32.2 meters, and is equipped with 30 duplex stainless steel (S31803) cargo tanks, boasting strong cargo carrying and compatibility capabilities. Propelled by a single propeller, the vessel will be classified by LR and is planned to fly the Liberian flag.
Wuhu Shipyard stated that it will uphold its consistent high standards and rigorous requirements, sparing no effort to ensure the vessel is completed faster, better, and to a higher standard. This will provide the global high-end liquid cargo shipping market with another premium vessel bearing the “Wuhu Shipyard-built” brand.
