Jiangnan Shipyard successfully named and delivered the second 14,000 TEU container ship (Hull No. H2790) in the series for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) on June 16. The vessel, supervised by Boya International Shipping Company, was christened “MSC TANZANIA”.
The 14,000 TEU container ship series is an independently designed and developed large container ship series by Jiangnan Shipyard, featuring high efficiency, environmental friendliness, and energy savings.
Meanwhile, “MSC TANZANIA” is the first container ship built by Jiangnan Shipyard to achieve full-ship simulated container lashing. During the mooring test, relying on the smart mooring platform, the overall control of the mooring test opinions was effectively promoted. The platform is currently under continuous development and improvement, which will further help improve construction efficiency and shipowner satisfaction.
The ship further consolidated the two-and-a-half-month terminal construction cycle of conventional fuel container ships, and based on the good trial status, it was delivered half a month ahead of schedule.
It is worth mentioning that, according to Alphaliner data, with the recent deliveries from Chinese shipyards, MSC’s container ship fleet has exceeded 900 ships, making it the first container shipping company in history to have a fleet size exceeding 900 ships.
Jiangnan Shipyard has previously delivered several high-quality ships to MSC, and this latest delivery will further boost MSC’s development. In the future, the two parties will deepen their strategic cooperation and work together to explore cutting-edge areas such as green ships and smart shipping, jointly opening a new chapter in the development of the shipping industry.
