On May 22, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers held a naming ceremony for a 85,000 dwt multi-purpose vessel “CSPC CRYSTAL” at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian). It is the first vessel of the fourth-generation upgraded ship type of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian)’s series of multi-purpose pulp vessels, and it is the largest multi-purpose pulp vessel type in the world in terms of deadweight tonnage.

“CSPC CRYSTAL has an overall length of 225 meters, a beam of 36 meters, a structural draught of 14.5 meters and a range of 25,000 nautical miles. In addition to meeting the loading requirements of pulp cargo, the vessel is also suitable for loading high-speed trains, wind power equipment, large machinery and equipment, and ultra-long and ultra-heavy steel pipe pile structures.

The vessel is specially equipped with a “one-to-one” temperature monitoring and early warning system for the transportation of new energy vehicles. The vessel has strong cargo suitability, economy, reliability, energy saving and environmental protection, and is currently the world’s largest new multi-purpose vessel and professional pulp transport vessel.

“CSPC CRYSTAL” is the first 85,000 dwt multi-purpose vessel built and delivered by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian), and it is the fourth new multi-purpose vessel of this series to be taken delivery of by COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers. The vessel’s maiden voyage is planned to carry containers and other goods from domestic ports to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other countries.

It is reported that since the successful delivery of the first 62,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp vessel in 2019, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) has continued to deepen its research in the field of special vessels, and has successively completed the iterative upgrades of 68,000 dwt, 77,000 dwt and 85,000 dwt vessels.
