On July 24, CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry co.,ltd.(DSIC), in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), named and delivered the first vessel of a series of second-generation 175,000 cbm LNG carriers built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).
Developed independently by DSIC, the “Sea Energy” vessel is equipped with the internationally advanced Mark III Flex cargo containment system, as well as dual-fuel main engines and generators, conventional fuel oil boilers, a cargo handling system, and a reliquefaction unit. Building on the experience gained during the construction of first-generation LNG carriers, the vessel has undergone technological iterations and process upgrades. Through comprehensive optimization of the hull form, propeller, and energy-saving devices, it achieves a well-balanced combination of economy, flexibility, and compatibility, enabling it to berth at the vast majority of large LNG terminals worldwide.
DSIC noted that the company has come a long way—from achieving a breakthrough with the construction of its first LNG carrier to the steady delivery of bulk orders today; from continuously refining its production processes to the maturation of its entire shipbuilding and operations system. The successful delivery of the “Sea Energy” serves as strong evidence of DSIC’s capabilities in the serialized, mass-produced, and high-quality construction of LNG carriers.
Going forward, DSIC will continue to summarize the valuable experience gained in the construction, commissioning, and delivery of LNG carriers, steadily optimize the construction process and workflow, enhance the level of refined management, and make every effort to ensure the smooth completion of subsequent projects, so as to contribute greater strength to the building of China into a maritime powerhouse.
