On June 23, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), held a steel-cutting ceremony for the first of two 10,800 CEU dual-fuel PCTCs ordered by South Korea’s GLOVIS.

Developed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the vessel is 230 meters long, 40 meters wide, and has a structural draft of 10.5 meters. It is powered by an LNG/fuel oil dual-fuel propulsion system. It is also equipped with shaft generators and a solar photovoltaic power generation system, balancing environmental protection with high efficiency while meeting the International Maritime Organization’s Tier I emission standards.
The vessel features 14 vehicle decks, five of which are adjustable movable decks, allowing for flexible loading of diverse cargo such as electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. Its maximum vehicle capacity is 10,800 units, which, if lined up end-to-end, would stretch over 50 kilometers. The ship is equipped with 16 sets of hydraulically powered movable ramps and two hydraulic movable decks, significantly enhancing loading efficiency and stability to meet global automotive trade demands.
It is reported that GSI has received cumulative orders for more than 40 PCTCs, including 14 dual-fuel PCTCs with a capacity of 10,800 vehicles. The 26 PCTCs that have already been delivered were all completed ahead of the contractual delivery dates.
