German engine manufacturer Everllence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WE Tech Solutions, aiming to provide electrification, energy efficiency enhancement, and decarbonization technologies to the global maritime industry.
The collaboration will focus on: marine electrification and energy management technologies; vessel retrofit projects that enhance operational efficiency and support decarbonization; and global services, commissioning, and lifecycle support.
Everllence and WE Tech Solutions have initiated technical development for a vessel retrofit project. They plan to utilize scheduled dry-docking periods to provide Power Take-Off (PTO) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) upgrades for vessels equipped with two-stroke or four-stroke engines; discussions regarding a pilot project covering up to 33 vessels are currently underway.
Everllence states that the PTO/VFD upgrade solution reduces the operating hours of marine auxiliary engines, thereby lowering fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining operational reliability. The solution is suitable for vessel types with high onboard electrical loads—such as LNG carriers and container ships carrying large numbers of reefer containers—and is compatible with main engines from any original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
Through this partnership, Everllence and WE Tech Solutions will combine their respective strengths in electrical integration, engineering design, retrofit projects, and lifecycle support to help shipowners accelerate their green transition.
