On June 22, Hengli Heavy Industries held a naming ceremony for the 114,000 DWT LR2 oil tanker “Pioneer Venture” built for Wah Kwong Transport Holdings Ltd. (Wah Kwong). On the same day, the company delivered a 306,000 DWT very large crude carrier (VLCC) to Norway’s Seatankers, marking the delivery of two high-end oil tankers on the same day.
The “Pioneer Venture” is the second LR2 oil tanker built by Hengli Heavy Industries for Wah Kwong. As a new-generation LR2-class oil tanker, the vessel combines technical advantages in safety, environmental sustainability, and smart technology. It complies with EEDI Phase III standards, and its level of smart technology and various performance indicators all meet internationally advanced standards.

The first vessel in the series, the “Frontier Venture,” was delivered in March. It is the first vessel with Category III “enhanced vessel” capabilities, achieving deep integration between its advanced onboard digital systems and shore-based support systems.
On the same day, Hengli Heavy Industries delivered the third 306,000 DWT VLCC, the “FRONT CLYDE,” to Norway’s Seatankers. The vessel was delivered nearly five months ahead of the contract schedule and performed exceptionally well during sea trials. The series of VLCCs already delivered and in operation have all demonstrated outstanding performance, earning unanimous praise from shipowners.

From the global record-setting simultaneous naming and delivery of two VLCCs earlier this month to the successful delivery of another pair of tankers on the same day, Hengli Heavy Industries has demonstrated its formidable capabilities in the serial construction of ultra-large vessels through a rapid yet orderly delivery schedule.
Hengli Heavy Industries reports that it has achieved significant new milestones this year across areas such as management, efficiency, and quality; the production and construction sites are bustling with vigorous activity and a spirit of determined progress, with a workforce of over 80,000 on-site. Currently, the company holds an order book extending through 2030.
