COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) Delivers First 7,999 DWT Methanol Bunkering Vessel Ahead of Schedule

On May 29, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) successfully delivered the first of a series of 7,999 DWT methanol bunkering vessels built for Singapore-based shipowner Consort Bunkers ahead of schedule.

The vessel has an overall length of 114.9 meters, a beam of 19 meters, and a draft of 10 meters. It is classified by NK and is capable of handling the bunkering and transportation of various types of clean energy, including methanol.

In June 2024, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) signed a contract with Consort Bunkers for the construction of four 7,999 DWT methanol bunkering vessels. Equipped with twin engines, twin propellers, and a bow thruster, these vessels are capable of carrying not only general product oils but also Class II chemicals, making them suitable for transporting fuels such as methanol, methyl esters of fatty acids, and biodiesel.

Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Singapore, Consort Bunkers specializes in ship bunkering and fuel barge operations primarily in Singapore, the Middle East, and China, and currently manages and operates a fleet of over 30 bunkering vessels.
