Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Hands Over 5,900 TEU Green Container Vessel

On February 3, Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding successfully delivered a 5,900 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship to its owner, setting a new record for the largest container capacity vessel delivered by the company.

The delivery of this vessel marks Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding’s formal integration as a key component within Tsuneishi Shipbuilding global multi-vessel, multi-facility new fuel shipbuilding system. It also signifies the successful expansion of Tsuneishi Shipbuilding’s strategy for large-scale construction of eco-friendly vessels to overseas core bases, including Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding. This achievement not only embodies the company’s technological prowess and construction capabilities but also represents a significant stride forward in the development of green shipping.

Previously, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding delivered a methanol dual-fuel UltraMax bulk carrier at its Tsuneishi facility in Japan, and in January 2026, it delivered the world’s first methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carrier at its Philippine base.

With the successful delivery of the Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding 5,900 TEU container ship, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding has successfully replicated and synergistically applied its design and construction technologies for new-fuel vessels across international markets. This milestone signifies that the construction of new-fuel vessels has formally entered a new phase of globalized and systematic maturity.

Tsuneishi Shipbuilding stated: “The completion of this new vessel marks a significant milestone for Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, signifying our ability to sustainably construct new fuel vessels at overseas bases. Extending the design and construction expertise accumulated at our Japanese and Philippine facilities to overseas locations, including Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, represents a major advancement in our multi-vessel, multi-base construction of new fuel vessels.”
