Beihai Shipbuilding’s Ship Repair Branch delivered an impressive annual performance

In 2025, CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding’s Ship Repair Branch delivered an impressive annual performance: the annual output value reached a record high, the product structure continued to move towards the high-end, and the proportion of high-tech, high-value-added ship repair business increased by 10%.

Advancing into the high-end market, achieving multiple breakthroughs

  • Beihai Shipbuilding successfully completed the repair of the “Brussels Express” LNG dual-fuel container ship, achieving a breakthrough in LNG fuel tank repair.
  • Beihai Shipbuilding successfully undertook the repair project of the LNG carrier “Shandong Ruibo”, achieving a breakthrough in LNG ship repair.
  • Beihai Shipbuilding has successively undertaken routine dry-docking repairs for the large luxury cruise ships “Dream” and “Ideal”, marking another peak in high-end ship repair.

Efficiency improvements and record-breaking production

  • Beihai Shipbuilding completed conversion and repair projects for 212 ships throughout the year, with 42 ships delivered ahead of schedule.
  • Beihai Shipbuilding successfully completed the removal of an oversized stern shaft from the hull, setting a new record by successfully maneuvering a ship 9.4 meters longer than the dock into the Taishan floating dry dock.
  • Beihai Shipbuilding continued to promote lean management, completing the prefabrication of nearly 10,000 tons of steel structures such as shipbuilding hatch covers and sections, and achieving a 23.4% year-on-year decrease in the proportion of energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of output value.

Overcoming Technical Challenges to Strengthen Core Competencies

  • Successfully mastered repair techniques for Mark III membrane-type LNG dual-fuel systems, establishing the capability to undertake bulk repairs for dual-fuel ships and LNG carriers;
  • Successfully unlocking the technology for retrofitting large container ships with 4500KW shaft generators can reduce fuel costs by 8%;
  • Successfully mastered electrostatic spraying technology, boosting coating utilization by 30%, and overcame challenges such as data-free positioning for giant curved surfaces on cruise ships and rust removal from glass window frames.

Green Intelligence Drives Transformation and Upgrading

Beihai Shipbuilding has introduced intelligent equipment such as laser cladding welding systems, CNC milling machines, and laser cutting machines, significantly enhancing processing efficiency and precision.

Beihai Shipbuilding upgraded its electromechanical workshop by constructing a dust-free facility and introducing overhead cranes and rail-free transport vehicles, significantly enhancing its electromechanical maintenance capabilities.

The ship hull achieved 100% ultra-high-pressure rust removal, with the proportion of ultra-high-pressure water rust removal increasing by 35.64% year-on-year, marking a new milestone in green ship repair practices.
