On October 31, Daijin Heavy Industry announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Panjin Dajin Marine Engineering Co., Ltd, signed a Semi-Submersible Barge Construction Contract with a Norwegian shipowner.

Panjin Dajin Marine Engineering will design, construct, and deliver a 43,000 DWT unpowered semi-submersible barge. The vessel will measure approximately 150 meters in overall length, 60 meters in beam with a maximum submerged draft of 32.5 meters. The total contract value amounts to approximately RMB 285 million (equivalent to approximately US$40 million). The new vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The vessel’s core parameters, including deadweight tonnage and maximum diving depth, rank among the world’s leading levels for vessels of its type, demonstrating strong loading capacity. The hull features a robust design with six stern pontoons and integrates a complex piping system with large-diameter pipes, delivering outstanding overall performance that meets stringent requirements from classification societies, flag states, and other relevant parties.
Daijin Heavy Industry stated that this contract marks the first collaboration between Panjin Dajin Marine Engineering and a European shipowner, signifying further international recognition of the company’s shipbuilding capabilities.
In terms of vessel type, this project represents a significant leap from deck barges to the more technically challenging semi-submersible barges. As the company’s inaugural construction of this vessel type, it is specifically designed for heavy marine engineering transportation and installation applications. This achievement will further expand the company’s order-taking capacity in the global market.
Panjin Dajin Marine Engineering is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daijin Heavy Industry. Located in the Liaobin Coastal Economic and Technological Development Zone of Panjin City, Liaoning Province, it is adjacent to Panjin Port and the mouth of the Liao River, offering excellent docking and water conditions. Together with the Group’s Tangshan and Penglai bases, it forms Daijin Heavy Industry’s three major offshore engineering bases around the Bohai Sea, demonstrating significant advantages in optimized production capacity and coordinated layout. Panjin Dajin Marine Engineering’s primary products include various deck transport vessels, semi-submersibles, heavy-lift vessels, floating docks, wind power operation and maintenance vessels, and wind power engineering vessels.
