On October 30, China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered the 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier “Mihzem”, independently developed and constructed by the company.

This vessel has achieved independent control over key technologies and its overall performance indicators have reached the international leading level. This marks that the company’s LNG carriers have reached the international leading level in terms of technical indicators, efficiency indicators and quality indicators.
The fifth-generation Changheng series LNG carriers are star products in the international market, having secured orders for 34 new vessels since its release in 2021.
This vessel integrates the world’s most advanced design concepts, optimal technical equipment, and strongest environmental performance. It achieves independent control over key technologies, significantly enhances overall performance metrics, reduces construction costs, and shortens the building cycle. The domestic content rate has risen to over 80%, with its full LNG capacity sufficient to supply Shanghai residents for half a month.

This series of vessels is equipped with the world’s first re-liquefaction system and a domestically developed waste recycling system. These innovations effectively reduce carbon emissions and LNG consumption during operation, enhance energy efficiency, and lower costs for shipowners, making them highly sought after in the market. Additionally, the vessels feature collision avoidance systems that automatically steer clear of vessels in close proximity, significantly improving navigational safety and reliability.
Notably, the “Mihzem” is the 55th LNG carrier built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. On October 31, the company will also deliver the LNG carrier “GreenEnergy Moon”. It is reported that in the first ten months of this year, Hudong-Zhonghua delivered a total of eight large LNG carriers.
In recent years, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has consistently implemented lean management practices and applied smart manufacturing technologies to continuously enhance construction efficiency and shorten construction cycles, making the entire production process smoother, more efficient, and faster.
