Oceanica Engenharia Secures $736M Charter Contracts with Petrobras for Offshore Vessel Services

Brazilian offshore vessel operator Oceanica Engenharia has announced that it has signed a series of charter contracts with Brazil’s state-owned oil and gas giant, Petrobras, totaling approximately $736 million. This batch of charter contracts comprises both new agreements and renewals.

Four sshallow diving support vessels (SDSVs)—”Oceanicasub IV”, “Oceanicasub V”, “Oceanicasub VII”, and “Oceanicasub IX”—have secured contract renewals from Petrobras. Under these contracts, they will provide underwater services—including the deployment of work-class ROVs, electric ROVs, and diving operations—to support inspection, maintenance, and underwater intervention activities.

The Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) support vessel “Oceanicasub VIII” was also awarded a contract renewal.

In terms of new contracts, Oceanica Engenharia’s “Oceanicasub VI” has signed a charter agreement with Petrobras, which will further enhance the company’s underwater service operational capabilities.

Oceanica Engenharia stated that the series of leases signed with Petrobras all have a contract term of four years; operations are expected to commence in the first half of 2027 and continue through 2031.

With this batch of new contracts, Oceanica Engenharia’s order backlog has increased to approximately 12 billion reais (approximately $2.3 billion), further solidifying its position in Brazil’s offshore services market.
