GSI Delivers 6th Methanol Dual-Fuel Chemical Tanker to J.P. Morgan Asset Management

On October 10, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), signed the delivery document for the sixth vessel in a series of 49,500 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical/product tankers built for J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

This vessel type represents a new generation of methanol dual-fuel chemical/product tankers independently developed by GSI. It features an advanced methanol dual-fuel propulsion system, incorporates a shore power system Ready interface, and adopts a Ready design for rotor sails. The design meets IMO Tier III emission standards, achieving ultra-low emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. It perfectly aligns with the global shipping industry’s demand for green transformation.

It is understood that during the construction period of the vessel, GSI achieved an outstanding score of 98.3 points in the launch transition phase review by strictly controlling compartment, system, and area integrity.

The vessel’s superstructure innovatively adopts a “one-lead-three” mode, integrating resources for general assembly, accommodation outfitting and painting to realize joint construction. It also relies on daily meetings to ensure 100% on-schedule completion of key processes.

GSI tracked the critical paths of the vessel’s construction with a visualized chart, identified potential risks in advance and formulated preventive measures, which significantly shortened the dock construction cycle.
