On October 10, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), officially named and delivered the 114,000 DWT product tanker “CAPE ANTIBES” — which was built off-site — to the Greek company CAPE SHIPPING.
As the second vessel in the series, CAPE ANTIBES is classed by ABS and was independently designed by SWS. The vessel measures 249.95 meters in overall length, 44.0 meters in beam, and 21.2 meters in depth. It has a design draft of 13.5 meters and a design speed of 14.5 knots. Equipped with a MAN B&W 6G60ME-C10.5 main engine, it complies with Tier III regulations.
Meanwhile, the CAPE ANTIBES is an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, safe, and economical green vessel. It represents not only a significant move by CAPE SHIPPING to expand its presence in the tanker market, but also a successful demonstration of SWS’s strategic foresight in pioneering off-site construction, actively exploring resources, and innovating business models.
It is reported that SWS and Cape Shipping will use this delivery ceremony as an opportunity to forge a closer partnership. They will further explore broader cooperation opportunities in medium-to-large oil tankers and other related fields, continuously deepening mutual benefits and win-win outcomes to achieve shared development.
