Recently, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has successfully won the bid for the construction of two 1,900TEU container ships for Shandong Marine Corporation, a subsidiary of Shandong Ports Group. The contract value is approximately RMB 443 million (approximately US$62 million).
Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding achieved remarkable results in the container ship market this year. According to incomplete statistics, by 2025, Huangpu Wenchong had secured four 4,300TEU and four 2,700TEU container ships from Ningbo Ocean Shipping, four 5,300TEU container ships from TS Lines, two 5,100TEU container ships from Germany’s Elbdeich Reederei, two 1,900TEU container ships from Schoeller Holdings, and 4+2 1,900TEU container ships from Jiangsu Ocean Shipping.
It is understood that the 1900TEU feeder container ship independently developed by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding is the company’s flagship product in the feeder container ship sector, with cumulative orders exceeding 40 vessels. Its design integrates advanced shipbuilding concepts such as green and intelligent technologies.
Through optimized overall layout design, the ship’s weight is effectively reduced, significantly enhancing its deadweight capacity and cargo loading capability. Simultaneously, the hull form and lines have been optimized for multiple drafts and speeds to meet operational requirements, making it suitable for regional operations, multiple port calls, and frequent loading/unloading. This improves the ship’s overall economic efficiency, ensures broad market adaptability, and aligns closely with current green and environmentally friendly development trends.
This successful bid once again demonstrates Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding’s strong competitiveness and influence in the field of small and medium-sized container ships.
