Recently, Norwegian ship design firm Salt Ship Design announced on its official website that its client has confirmed orders for two multi-purpose platform supply vessels (MPSVs), bringing the total number of confirmed orders for the series at Singapore’s PaxOcean to eight vessels.
The MPSV series will be constructed by PaxOcean Engineering Zhoushan Co.Ltd (POEZ) , a subsidiary of PaxOcean in China, with Salt Ship Design providing a complete design solution including detailed design.
This vessel measures 92.9 meters in overall length, 20.3 meters in beam, and features a deck area of 1,020 square meters with a crew capacity of 60. It will incorporate state-of-the-art marine technology and reserve space for future installation of either a 100-ton Active Heave Compensation (AHC) crane or a gangway system.
In September last year, PaxOcean announced a contract with a Greek shipowner for the construction of up to 10 5,000 DWT MPSVs. The order includes six MPSVs, with options for four more. However, the confirmed MPSVs has now reached eight units. This is the first offshore vessel order secured by PaxOcean in recent years, with deliveries expected to commence in the third quarter of 2026. Industry sources indicate that the Greek shipowner is Costamare.
