On August 29, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding announced that it had received orders for a total of 22 new vessels between August 6 and August 29, including four 1,100 TEU container vessels. The owners of three of these container vessels have been publicly disclosed.
According to TradeWinds, South Korean shipowner Dongjin Shipping has placed an order with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for three 1,100 TEU container vessels. The total contract value is approximately $70 million, translating to a unit price of around $23.33 million each.
Notably, this marks Dongjin Shipping’s first order placed with a Chinese shipyard, as the company’s previous orders were all undertaken by South Korean shipyards.
Including orders from Dongjin Shipping, multiple shipowners have disclosed regarding the 22 new vessels announced by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding on August 29. These include: two 40,000-cubic-meter LPG carriers for Japan’s Lepta Shipping, and two 4,300-TEU container ships for Greek feeder operator Euroseas.
Currently, the owner information for the following vessels remains undisclosed: 1 x 1,100 TEU container vessel, 4 1,800 TEU container vessels, 2 3,000 TEU container vessels and 2 x 83,000 dwt bulk carriers.
