On July 22nd, with the successful delivery the 6G70MEC10.5+HPSCR#83 main engine, Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd (DMD), a subsidiary of CSSC Engine Co., Ltd. (CSE) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), ushered in a historic moment.
Since its establishment in July 1984, DMD has delivered a total of 1,500 main engines, with a total power output exceeding 30 million horsepower. This achievement not only represents a significant leap in production scale but also serves as a testament to the company’s over four decades of expertise and dedication to the marine propulsion industry.
Over the past forty years, DMD’s marine engines have always maintained the world’s advanced level, with superior economy, safe and reliable operation, and various operating parameters reaching the optimal indicators, which can fully meet the stringent requirements of various complex sea conditions for ship power.
Over the past 40 years, DMD’s achievements and breakthroughs have been remarkable:
- In July 1984, the first main engine produced by DMD after its establishment, 6RLB76#1, won the Quality Product Award of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
- In July 1986, the 5L80MCE engine won the National Quality Gold Award.
- In October 1991, DMD exported a 5RTA52 main engine to Germany, marking China’s first direct export of a large marine main engine to a foreign country.
- In March 1993, DMD achieved the first million horsepower of engines manufactured.
- In August 2005, DMD successfully delivered the world’s first electronically controlled common rail 7RTflex58T-B main engine, sounding the clarion call for intelligent main engines to replace traditional engines.
- In June 2007, DMD successfully delivered the first 8K90MC-C super-heavy mainframe in China, ending the history of my country’s complete reliance on imports for super-heavy mainframes.
