“Guoxin” drilling rig conducted its first drilling operation

On May 3, “Guoxin” drilling rig conducted its first drilling operation in Bohai Bay, China.

The “Guoxin” platform is of F&G JU2000E design, with a maximum operating depth of 122 meters and a maximum operating capacity of 10,668 meters. It is classed by ABS and is capable of drilling in most of the world’s oceans.

The drilling rig “Guoxin” was built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and later converted into a wind power installation platform.

Since the delivery of the platform conversion, a total of 549 sets of equipment and facilities have been completed testing, commissioning, as well as 24 operational adaptability modification, which lasted 7 days of long-distance towing, across the three seas 701.2 nautical miles to list the Bohai Sea.

The commissioning of the platform will strongly enhance China’s oil and gas exploration and development capabilities in the Bohai Sea waters, and further safeguard national energy security.
