On September 8, the Chinese shipbuilder Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co., Ltd. (Changhong International) signed the delivery documents for the “Horizon Leda”, the third vessel in a series of 50,000-dwt oil/chemical tankers built for the Greek company Horizon Tankers. The vessel was delivered 113 days ahead of the contractual delivery date.
The vessel has an overall length of approximately 182.75 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a depth of 19.1 meters; it is classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR). Featuring an energy-efficient design, the vessel is equipped with an integrated system comprising a propeller boss cap fin (PBCF) and an energy-saving duct—both designed by SDARI—to effectively reduce main engine fuel consumption and enhance propulsion efficiency, thereby meeting EEDI Phase III standards and the latest regulatory requirements. Additionally, it features a new type of cargo tank washing water system to facilitate the handling of wash water in restricted areas, while the cargo oil system employs a flexible, high-efficiency loading design capable of simultaneously handling seven different types of cargo.
The “Horizon Leda” is the third vessel in the MR-series oil and chemical tanker series built by Changhong International in collaboration with HORIZON TANKERS, and was named on July 3. The series consists of six vessels in total; the first vessel was delivered on April 16, and the second was delivered on July 15.
