On July 24, New York-listed tanker owner DHT Holdings announced via its official website the delivery of the “DHT Impala”, a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) built by South Korea’s HD Hyundai Samho; the vessel will subsequently be deployed in the spot market.
The “DHT Impala” is the fourth vessel in the series of VLCCs ordered by DHT; the preceding three ships—named “DHT Antelope”, “DHT Addax”, and “DHT Gazelle”—were delivered on January 2, March 6, and March 30, respectively.
This VLCC measures 331 meters in length, 60 meters in width, and has a draft of 11 meters; it is equipped with a propulsion system that meets IMO Tier III emission standards and an exhaust gas cleaning system, allowing it to use high-sulfur fuel oil even when sailing within most global Emission Control Areas (ECAs).
Regarding fleet renewal, DHT confirmed that the 2007-built VLCC “DHT Bauhinia” was delivered to its new owner on July 20, 2026. Following the delivery of the “DHT Impala”, DHT’s fleet totals 25 VLCCs.
Regarding newbuilds, DHT recently placed an additional order with Hanwha Ocean for one VLCC, with delivery expected in August 2028. The vessel will be built to high specifications, offering outstanding profitability driven by superior fuel efficiency, low emissions, and massive cargo capacity.
According to its official website, DHT is an independent crude oil tanker company that currently operates a fleet of 25 VLCCs worldwide, with operations managed through integrated management companies based in Monaco, Norway, Singapore, and India.
