Reported by the Mangystau Region Government in Kazakhstan, the Dutch shipbuilding group Damen Shipyards will invest 100 million euros to build a new shipyard on Kazakhstan’s Caspian Sea coast.
The Mangystau government stated that it hopes, through this project, to introduce advanced shipbuilding technology, create a large number of high-tech jobs, fully unlock the region’s industrial potential, and enhance local transportation and logistics capabilities, while simultaneously strengthening cooperation among Caspian littoral states.
Data indicates that Damen Shipyards is the largest shipbuilding group in the Netherlands; established in 1927, it primarily builds tugboats, patrol vessels, ferries, cargo ships, dredgers, naval vessels, and other marine equipment.
In the shipbuilding sector, Kazakhstan signed two major international contracts earlier this year—with companies from Azerbaijan and China, respectively—for the construction of six dry cargo vessels, with a total value exceeding $100 million.
