COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Takes Delivery of Final 7,500 CEU LNG-PCTC “Kang Qian Kou” from Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry

On June 17, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry signed and delivered the 7,500 CEU LNG-powered PCTC “Kang Qian Kou”, which was built for COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers. Upon delivery, the vessel will be operated by Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers.

It is understood that this vessel is the ninth in a series of 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs built by COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry, and also marks the final vessel in the series.

The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a designed draft of 8.65 meters, and a total range of 25,000 nautical miles. The vessel’s performance indicators lead the domestic industry. Its propulsion system features a single-engine, single-propeller configuration, utilizing an LNG dual-fuel main engine, a single bow thruster, and an electric RORO system. The vessel has 13 vehicle decks with a total of 7,500 standard vehicle spaces, including four liftable decks, and can carry various types of vehicles—such as passenger cars, trucks, construction machinery, and buses—as well as MAFI cargo.

The “Kang Qian Kou” vessel will embark on its first voyage on the Australian route, carrying over 4,800 vehicles of various types from brands such as BYD, Great Wall, Chery, Geely, Sinotruk, and LiuGong, departing from domestic ports and heading to major ports along the eastern coast of Australia.

COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers is actively developing the automotive logistics industry chain and is committed to building a world-class, green, and efficient fleet of PCTCs. Over the past two years, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has gradually added more than 20 LNG-dual-fuel PCTCs to its fleet, bringing the total number of vessels in operation to 33—one of the largest fleets in the world. Its routes span regions including the Persian Gulf, Europe, Southeast Africa, Western South America, the Mediterranean, and Australia and New Zealand.
