On June 17, the oil spill response vessel (OSRV) “Sui Gang Huan Bao 6,” built by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding for the Guangzhou Port Authority, was officially delivered and commissioned at the Nansha International Cruise Home Port.

The vessel has an overall length of 75.8 meters and a beam of 15.2 meters, featuring a raked bow, square stern, and twin fully reversible propeller configuration. Equipped with two high-power oil skimmers, it can recover up to 460 cubic meters of oil per hour and is fitted with a dedicated 1,100-cubic-meter oil recovery tank, enabling it to efficiently carry out oil spill containment and recovery operations at sea.

This vessel combines multiple functions, including offshore oil spill emergency command, external firefighting (with Class I firefighting capability), oil spill monitoring, towing of distressed vessels, and emergency rescue. It is a comprehensive emergency response asset that integrates “cleanup, prevention, rescue, and command,” capable of adapting to complex and variable sea conditions. Equipped with all-weather, high-intensity specialized oil spill response capabilities, it can rapidly respond to and scientifically manage various types of sudden marine oil pollution incidents, thereby minimizing ecological damage to marine areas.
It is worth noting that this vessel is the first large-scale OSRV in the country funded by a local government. Once it enters full operation, it will effectively enhance the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s emergency response capabilities for major marine oil spills and improve marine environmental protection standards, thereby injecting new momentum into safeguarding the ecological foundation of the Greater Bay Area and empowering the high-quality development of the marine economy.
