Shandong-based Sealand Equipment Group announced that it has successfully signed a contract with a European client for the construction of two 5,350 DWT multi-purpose vessels. This is the shipyard’s third multi-purpose vessel order announced in just a few days.

The 5350 DWT multi-purpose vessel signed this time was designed by a well-known domestic design institute. It features a pioneering multi-scenario intelligent management and control solution, equipped with a new generation computer certified by the classification society and a MAN main engine + SCR system. It can easily complete one-click intelligent calculation of draft, stability, and strength, and realize full automation of container loading and bulk cargo loading and unloading. At the same time, it intelligently links real-time monitoring, cargo hold ventilation, fire protection, ballast and other systems to make ocean transportation safer and more efficient.
This vessel type will adopt an integrated green energy efficiency system, meet the strictest global emission standards of IMO Tier III, comply with EU recyclability requirements, and have an EEDI energy efficiency index higher than international standards. It has core advantages such as “shallow draft, wide hatch, strong loading and unloading capabilities, low emissions, and low cost”. It can flexibly load large-tonnage cargo such as coal, steel, and containers. It is currently a small-to-medium-sized environmentally friendly multipurpose vessel type with high flexibility and market recognition in near-sea, inland waterway, and near-ocean feeder transportation.
Just three days ago (April 26), Sealand Equipment Group announced that the construction project of 2+3 5350 DWT multi-purpose vessels in the European market had been finalized. This came only two days after the signing of an additional order for two 12600 DWT multi-purpose vessels on the 24th, setting a new record for both signing efficiency and amount.
Including the previous two orders, Sealand Equipment Group has secured orders for six multi-purpose vessels for the European market in just a few days, including four 5,350 DWT multi-purpose vessels and two 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels.
Sealand Equipment Group stated that in recent years it has focused on creating “standardized and serialized” flagship offshore engineering products. The multi-purpose series of vessels it undertakes covers multiple vessel types such as 7400DWT, 12600DWT, and 17500DWT. Its partners are located in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and Singapore, with a total order quantity of more than 20 vessels and a production plan scheduled until 2029.
