GSI Delivers MR Tanker to NJTC Ahead of Contractual Delivery Date

On October 28, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) delivered the 49,900 DWT chemical/refined oil tanker “FOREVER WEALTH”, built for Nanjing Tanker Corporation (NJTC), five months ahead of the contractual delivery date.

It is worth noting that during the ceremony, the China Classification Society issued a “Declaration of Compliance with Carbon Footprint Standards for Newly Built Vessels” for the ship. This marks the first time a vessel built by Guangzhou Shipyard International has received this declaration, signifying a significant breakthrough for the company in the standardized management of carbon footprints for newly built vessels and providing a practical, implementable model for the low-carbon construction of similar liquid cargo ships in China.

This vessel is the latest 16th-generation Medium Range (MR) product/chemical tanker, independently designed and developed by GSI and serving as one of the company’s core, high-quality flagship products. The vessel has an overall length of 183 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a structural draft of 13.2 meters, with a deadweight of approximately 49,900 tonnes. It features a service speed of 14.5 knots and is designed with the capability for a future methanol dual-fuel propulsion upgrade. The vessel complies with IMO Tier III emission standards, meets the Phase 3 requirements of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), and its intelligent energy efficiency management system fulfills the criteria for the I-SHIP(E) class notation from the China Classification Society (CCS).

This vessel boasts exceptional performance in terms of speed and fuel efficiency. Through continuous optimization of its hull form, its performance potential has been further enhanced and propulsion efficiency improved. It features high speed, low light ship weight, low energy consumption, and strong adaptability, and ranks among the world’s leading vessels of its class in terms of energy consumption metrics, environmental performance, and reliability.

It is reported that GSI and NJTC have been collaborating for 16 years. Starting with their first large crude oil carrier project, they have jointly built 12 high-quality, premium oil tankers that have been widely acclaimed by the market, thereby setting an industry benchmark for long-term strategic cooperation between domestic shipowners and shipbuilders.
