Sealand Equipment Group announced that it has recently secured a contract to build 2+3 multi-purpose vessels (5350DWT) in the European market. This signing comes just two days after the signing of an additional order for two 12600DWT multi-purpose vessels, setting a new record for both contract signing efficiency and contract value.

It is reported that Sealand Equipment Group will collaborate with a renowned domestic design institute to develop this series of vessels. The project will pioneer a multi-scenario intelligent control solution, featuring a new generation of computers certified by classification societies and equipped with MAN main engines and SCR systems. This setup enables one-click intelligent calculations for draft, stability, and strength, and achieves full-process automation for container stowage and bulk cargo handling. Simultaneously, the system will intelligently coordinate real-time monitoring, cargo hold ventilation, fire protection, and ballast systems, making ocean transport safer and more efficient.
This vessel type will incorporate an integrated green energy efficiency system, meeting the world’s strictest IMO Tier III emission standards and complying with EU recycling requirements. Its EEDI energy efficiency index far exceeds international standards, and it offers core advantages such as “shallow draft, wide hatch openings, strong loading and unloading capabilities, low emissions, and low operating costs.” Capable of flexibly carrying high-tonnage cargoes such as coal, steel, and containers, it is currently a highly flexible, market-recognized, eco-friendly, multi-purpose small-to-medium-sized vessel widely used in coastal, inland waterway, and short-sea feeder transport.
In September 2025, Sealand Equipment Group signed a contract with a European shipowner for the first batch of four 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels, marking the company’s first order in the UK market. On April 24, Sealand Equipment announced that two additional orders had been finalized. The total value of the six-vessel contract exceeds 1.2 billion yuan.
Sealand Equipment Group stated that in recent years it has focused on developing “standardized and modular” flagship offshore engineering products. The multi-purpose vessel series it has secured orders for includes various models such as 7,400 DWT, 12,600 DWT, and 17,500 DWT. The company has partnered with countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Singapore, with a total order volume exceeding 20 vessels and a production schedule extending through 2029.
