Hengli Heavy Industries to Get World-Record-Breaking Gantry Cranes, Boosting Shipbuilding Efficiency by 50%

According to the official website of Jiangsu Tianmu Construction Group Limited Company, on April 10, at the construction site of Hengli Heavy Industries’ super dry dock on Changxing Island in Dalian, the company officially commenced the critical phase of construction for the three ultra-large gantry cranes it is building for Hengli Heavy Industries.

Tianmu Construction Group stated that this fleet of gantry cranes represents the very best in the industry: two 2,000-ton gantry cranes with a span of 256 meters, setting a new global record; they boast a lifting height of 100 meters; with a total weight of 12,700 tons, they have broken the record for the world’s heaviest gantry crane; and their single-lift capacity exceeds 10,500 tons; The third unit is a 1,000-ton gantry crane with a span of 256 meters, a total weight of 9,300 tons, and a lifting capacity of 8,000 tons. These three gantry cranes are strategically arranged within the same dry dock, creating an exceptionally powerful shipbuilding and hoisting capability.

Tianmu Construction Group stated that all three gantry cranes will be deployed at Hengli Heavy Industryies’ world-class dry dock, where they will meet the manufacturing requirements for high-end vessels such as VLCCs, container ships, LNG carriers, and various types of offshore engineering equipment. They will support the assembly of ultra-large modules as a whole, boosting dry dock construction efficiency by more than 50%.

Hengli Heavy Industries operates a modern dry dock with world-class shipbuilding capabilities. Its massive dry dock can accommodate the simultaneous construction of four 300,000 DWT VLCCs. The facility is equipped with a fleet of heavy-duty lifting equipment, including 900-ton, 1,000-ton, 1,500-ton, and 2,000-ton gantry cranes, with a maximum combined lifting capacity of 3,200 tons.
