BAAS Shipping Orders Two 1,200 TEU Feeders from Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding

German shipowner BAAS Shipping has ordered two 1,200 TEU feeder container ships from Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding, with a unit price of approximately US$34 million and a total contract value of around US$68 million, according to TradeWinds.

Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Qingdao Shipyard; with a registered capital of RMB 950 million. It is a shipyard that has been in operation for nearly 20 years.

The parent company of Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding is China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Qingdao Shipyard. Originally established in 1949 as the state-owned Qingdao Shipyard, the facility has built and delivered over 600 vessels since its inception, with a product portfolio that includes bulk carriers, container ships, and offshore vessels. In April 2025, following its integration into the China Merchants Group’s shipbuilding division, the shipyard was renamed China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd.
