Hengli Shipbuilding Secures $70-100M Capesize Bulk Carrier Order from European Shipowner

On February 2, *ST Songfa issued an announcement regarding the signing of a major contract for routine operations by its subsidiary, stating that a shipbuilding contract for one vessel by its subsidiary Hengli Shipbuilding (Dalian) Co., Ltd. had recently been signed and entered into effect.

The announcement disclosed that the counterparty to the contract is a renowned European shipowner. The transaction involves one Capesize bulk carrier with a total value of approximately US$70 million to US$100 million. The new vessel is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2027.

Capesize bulk carriers serve as the core vessel type in the international dry bulk shipping market, offering significant economies of scale, robust endurance and superior economic efficiency. Hengli Heavy Industries has deeply integrated route versatility and cargo adaptability into the design of this vessel type, enabling efficient compatibility with loading and unloading facilities at major global bulk commodity ports. This design fully meets the transoceanic trunkline transportation demands for dry bulk cargoes such as iron ore and coal.

As of February 2, Hengli Heavy Industries has secured orders for 16+2 new vessels this year, including 1 bulk carrier, 10 VLCCs, 1 LR2 crude/product tanker, and 4+2 container ships. With a total value exceeding 10 billion yuan, the company has achieved comprehensive growth across multiple vessel types, including container ship, bulk carrier and tanker orders.
