Four Zhejiang shipyards secure orders for seven container vessels

Recent filings of enterprise investment project records in Xiamen show that five Xiamen-based shipowners have placed orders for seven feeder container vessels, which will be constructed by four Zhejiang shipyards including Donghong Shipbuilding, Jinchuan Shipyard, Zhenxing Shipbuilding and Hexing Shipbuilding, with a total contract value exceeding RMB 1.3 billion (approximately US$187 million).

Donghong Shipbuilding has secured a contract build four container ships. It includs:

  • Xiamen Yisheng Shipping has invested approximately RMB 427.76 million to construct two 63,000 DWT container vessels (approximately 3,300 TEU). Each vessel measures 200 meters in length and 35 meters in width, and is suitable for unrestricted navigation zones.
  • Xiamen Aotai Shipping has invested RMB 205.88 million to build a 3,300 TEU container vessel. Measuring 200 meters in length and 35 meters in width, this dual-purpose vessel for both domestic and international trade was designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) in accordance with the latest energy-saving and emission-reduction standards for wireless navigation zones. Classified by CCS, it meets Tier 3 emission standards.
  • Xiamen Ousheng Shipping has invested RMB 216.88 million to build a 3,300 TEU container vessel. The ship is designed for unrestricted navigation zones, meeting green, intelligent, and safety requirements while complying with new international shipbuilding regulations and standards.

Established in July 2004, Donghong Shipbuilding boasts a 625-meter coastline and covers an area of over 700 mu, with an annual shipbuilding capacity exceeding 600,000 deadweight tons. The yard operates eight slipways, including two 150,000-ton, one 120,000-ton, one 100,000-ton, one 60,000-ton, one 30,000-ton, and two 20,000-ton slipways, enabling the construction of vessels ranging from small and medium-sized vessels to large ocean-going vessels.

Donghong Shipbuilding’s product portfolio includes bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, chemical tankers, asphalt carriers, multi-purpose vessels, specialized transport vessels, engineering vessels, and fishing vessels.

Zhenxing Shipbuilding has secured a contract to build one container ship.

Xiamen Heshengshun Shipping has invested RMB 190.8 million to commission Zhenxing Shipbuilding to construct a 3,600 TEU container vessel. Construction is scheduled to commence in February 2026, with delivery expected in May 2027. The vessel will measure 213 meters in length and 35 meters in width, featuring an optimized hull design to enhance performance and cargo capacity.

Established in June 2005, Donghong Shipbuilding operates 14 slipways, including one large slipway measuring 300 meters × 45 meters (capable of constructing vessels up to 125,000 DWT). The facility is equipped with a 220-ton gantry crane, a 25,000-square-meter section building platform, and a 125-ton flatbed transporter. It undertakes the construction of various steel-hulled vessels below 125,000 DWT.

Hexing Shipbuilding has secured a contract to build one container vessel.

Xiamen Hexiangshun Shipping has invested RMB 192 million to build a 3,600 TEU container vessel at Hexing Shipbuilding. The vessel measures 213 meters in length and 35 meters in width.

Hexing Shipbuilding was established in March 2001. With nine slipways, it possesses an annual shipbuilding capacity of approximately 350,000 deadweight tons. The company undertakes the construction of bulk carriers, container ships, oil tankers, chemical tankers, multi-purpose vessels, engineering vessels, and ocean-going fishing vessels under 70,000 tons. To date, it has delivered over 500 vessels of various types, with the largest being a 65,000-ton bulk carrier.

Jinchuan Shipyard has secured a contract to build one container vessel.

Xiamen Heshengshun Shipping has invested RMB 86.88 million to build a 1,765 TEU container vessel at Jinchuan Shipyard. The vessel measures 173.71 meters in length, 27.3 meters in width, and has a deadweight of 31,500 tons.

Jinchuan Shipyard was established in July 2005. It possesses eight 10,000-ton slipways (including two 50,000-ton slipways) and one 10,000-ton outfitting pier. With an annual shipbuilding capacity exceeding 200,000 deadweight tons, the yard undertakes construction of container ships, bulk carriers, multi-purpose vessels, and engineering vessels up to 51,000 tons. By 2025, it will have seven container vessels of 10,000 tons or above under construction.
