Data from the website of Union Maritime, a diversified British shipping company, shows that the company has signed a contract with Dalian Shipbuilding & Offshore (DSOC) for the construction of two 24,200 DWT product tankers, which are expected to be delivered in 2028.

It is worth noting that this marks the second collaboration between Union Maritime and DSOC on this type of tanker. In January 2025, Union Maritime and DSOC signed a contract for the construction of four 24,200 DWT product tankers, with each vessel costing approximately $30 million, scheduled for delivery between July and December 2026.
Union Maritime is a UK-based shipowner and operator with a diversified fleet of vessels, focusing on the global clean products and light chemical markets. As of September 23, 2026, Union Maritime’s fleet totaled 185 vessels, with the active fleet comprising 85 oil tankers, 15 dry bulk carriers, 6 offshore support vessels, and 79 newbuilds.
Based on publicly available information, DSOC was established in September 2006 with a registered capital of $95 million. The company is engaged in the manufacturing of offshore engineering equipment and was formerly a subsidiary of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC).
In 2019, DSOC entered bankruptcy reorganization proceedings after being unable to repay its maturing debts; in June 2021, DSOC’s reorganization plan was approved by the Dalian Intermediate People’s Court of Liaoning Province; in December 2022, the court ruled that the reorganization plan had been fully implemented. Following the completion of its reorganization, DSOC was formally spun off from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) in terms of its equity structure.
On August 30, 2023, DSOC secured its first independently contracted project following the completion of bankruptcy reorganization; on September 15, the company’s name was officially changed from “Dalian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Group Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd.” to “Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co., Ltd.,” with the abbreviated name DSOC.
