Steel Cutting Begins for SEPAT FPSO Topside Module at CMHI Haimen Shipyard

Recently, a steel-cutting ceremony for the topside module of the SEPAT FPSO project was held at the China Merchants Heavy Industries Haimen Shipyard (CMHI Haimen Shipyard), marking the official start of the topside module’s construction phase.

The topside module is a critical component of a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit. It performs key process functions such as oil and gas processing and gas compression, and imposes strict requirements on engineering design, equipment integration, and construction quality.

This steel cutting marks another significant milestone following the signing of the EPC contract between OceanSTAR Elite Group (OSE) and China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) in May 2026 and the project’s first steel cutting in July.

Based on available information, the SEPAT FPSO hull is the third FPSO developed by OceanSTAR using a standardized hull design based on the “design once, build in series” concept. The FPSO employs multi-point mooring, operates at a water depth of approximately 70 meters, and has a daily liquid processing capacity of no less than 30,000 barrels; it will be equipped with advanced gas injection, gas lift, and future water injection systems to ensure efficient and sustainable production.
